A self‑paced online course designed for committee members and staff of not‑for‑profit organisations. The flexible online format allows participants to learn at their own convenience, whether from home or the office. The course includes three modules of core content, with the option to join three group online Q&A sessions with the instructor for additional support.
Dates and Format
Wednesday, 22 July 2026, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM AWST: Course commences with an online orientation session via Microsoft Teams. Participants then work through the modules at their own pace.
Module 1– Introduction to not-for-profit governance including constitutions.
Module 2 – Financials and strategy.
Wednesday, 12 August 2026, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM AWST: Midway check in with a Q&A session via Microsoft Teams.
Module 3 – People and performance.
Wednesday, 26 August 2026, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM AWST: Course concludes with a final Q&A session via Microsoft Teams.
This e‑course includes approximately six hours of study, with all content available upfront. Participants are free to progress at their own pace; however, completing one module per week is recommended to support steady learning. Three optional group online support sessions are also scheduled over the period, giving participants the opportunity to join live Q&A discussions with the instructor.
Note: Late enrolments are welcome. However, participants are responsible for catching up on any missed content and ensuring they remain engaged throughout the program.

Participant Time Commitment
It is recommended that participants dedicate at least one hour per week to this course (approximately six hours in total, including the three support sessions).
You will need:
- Time to read, prepare, and reflect on key governance principles (allow up to 1 hour),
- Time to view each module (approximately 1 hour) and explore the accompanying support resources,
- The ability to attend the three scheduled online support tutorials or watch the session playbacks,
- Time to apply the knowledge gained from each module to strengthen and improve your not‑for‑profit organisation.
Note: All course materials remain accessible for six months following course completion.

Caroline Robinson

Caroline is an enthusiastic advocate for rural communities and the leaders and organisations within them.
With a passion for assisting not-for-profits, government, and member-based institutions through governance and strategy, Caroline combines extensive experience with a broad-thinking, strategic approach to produce creative, people-centred solutions. Connecting the people, services and information rural organisations need to help them expand and thrive in their community.
Caroline is the founder and former CEO of the Wheatbelt Business Network, the region’s largest business association. She currently holds an EO position on the North Eastern Wheatbelt Regional Organisation of Councils and has also held board positions on state government boards, rural not-for-profits, sports clubs and the Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry WA. In 2011 Caroline was awarded the Agrifutures National and WA Rural Woman of the Year, as well as the Shire of Narembeen Citizen of the Year in 2018.
