ELECTION OF THE GIWA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The GIWA Executive Committee (the GIWA Board) is elected annually at each GIWA AGM for a term of one year. The current (2024/25) GIWA Board can be found here.
The GIWA Board is made up of:
- one representative from each of GIWA’s five commodity Councils (GIWA’s Barley Council, Oat Council, Oilseeds Council, Pulse Council and Wheat Council),
- four additional positions elected from the GIWA membership, and
- additional co-opted members as required.
Nominations were called on 22 August for the third of positions on each of the GIWA commodity Councils that become vacant each year. Nominations closed on 12 September. The finalisation of the appointment process and the ratification of those appointments by vote of financial members at the 2025 GIWA AGM will determine which members of the five GIWA commodity Councils fill the five places on the GIWA Board described in 1) above.
In accordance with section 17.1 of the GIWA Constitution, the four GIWA Board positions referred to in 2) above will be filled by vote of GIWA financial members at the 2025 GIWA AGM. Nominations are now open for these four GIWA Board positions. Nominations close COB Friday 3rd October 2025. The nomination form is accessible via the link provided above.
Please note the following requirements regarding nominating for the GIWA Board:
- Nominations must be made via the nomination form. All fields must be completed, and
- You must specify the Grain Knowledge category (one only) and Sector Skill (up to two) that best describes you. Choose only from the categories listed on the nomination form.
- Please specify whether you are nominating for the position of Member, Chair, Deputy Chair or Treasurer. You may nominate for more than one Board position but nominating to be a Member is mandatory.
- Only current, financial GIWA members are eligible to nominate.
- Each nomination must be seconded by a current, financial GIWA member.
- Every nominee and appointee to the Board must at all times be eligible for appointment as a Director under Corporations Law and failure to remain so qualified will result in automatic loss of office.
If considering nominating for the GIWA Board, please first contact me so that I can discuss the role and obligations of the GIWA Board with you. Please also note that membership of the GIWA Board is voluntary. Sitting fees are not paid.
