Established in 2009 as Gascoyne Catchments Group Inc., the organisation has grown from a local network into a trusted, regionally focused initiative. Strong relationships, proven project delivery and an engaged membership base position GPRI to support an ecologically sustainable and profitable pastoral industry, backed by an adaptable and resilient community. Gascoyne Pilbara Rangelands Initiative Inc. works across the Gascoyne and Pilbara, where rangelands are rugged, resilient and central to a successful and sustainable pastoral industry.
Gascoyne Pilbara Rangelands Initiative Inc. is committed to leading a dynamic, progressive and community-driven approach to rangeland management. We work alongside pastoral businesses, industry partners and regional experts, combining strategic leadership with practical, on-ground projects that deliver real benefits for land managers and the wider region. Our work is, and has always been, producer-driven.

Activities/Projects
GPRI currently holds the Node Manager role for the Gascoyne (to 2026) and is working with the South West WA Hub on the Smart Grazing, Strong Lands project (to 2028). The organisation also delivers and manages projects with:
• Landcare Australia (to 2028)
• State NRM (to 2026)
• FRRR (to 2026)
GPRI is actively working in partnership with the Pilbara Innovation Partnership (PIP) across multiple projects in the North Gascoyne and Pilbara, supporting coordinated, regionally relevant outcomes.
Past Projects
Past projects include the highly successful cross-regional Bullseye Project (2017-2020), BeefLinks (2018-2024), and the producer-driven Rangelands Monitoring Tool (ongoing). The Rangelands Monitoring Tool supports land managers with practical, on-ground monitoring, providing a secure record of landscape condition over multiple years. GPRI has also partnered with a range of organisations to deliver or support projects, including WA Landcare, FRRR, UWA / MLA, and Rangelands NRM. Recently completed projects include:
• FRRR – Community Impact Program (2023-2025), incorporating the Voices of the Gascoyne podcast series
• GDC-funded Gascoyne River Project (2022-2025)
• South West WA Hub Capacity Building activities (2025).
