Dry Season Response Outreach

GGA is partnering within the WA government’s dry season response program. Through the newly formed Dry Season Task Force, GGA will administer a five-part plan to support mobilisation of on-ground efforts around community wellbeing in the agricultural sector.

Grower Group Alliance five-part plan

GGA has been contracted via a $250,000 package to partner in the dry season response initiatives. Our five-part plan will support and mobilise on-ground efforts for community wellbeing in the agriculture sector.

  • Part 1 – Grants of $5,000-$35,000 to support existing or new initiatives led by GGA members or other local agricultural groups.
  • Part 2 – On-ground intelligence gathering – GGA will provide a channel to capture local on-ground situation updates to relay to the Dry Season Taskforce to support informed decision-making as the situation evolves.
  • Part 3 – Knowledge Directory – curating all known dry season events, resources and financial initiatives across organisations
  • Part 4 – Communications support – driving engagement with all dry season initiatives leveraging the GGA suite of digital assets
  • Part 5 – Collaboration – GGA will engage in weekly DPIRD Response communications team meetings around planned activities and attend weekly Dry Season Response team meetings for information cross-sharing.

Part 1 – Grants

GGA has grants of $5000 – $35,000 available for GGA network members, and other agriculture groups / organisations that have already begun, or would like to mobilise dry season response initiatives in their area. Grants will be assessed and notified weekly.

Examples

Examples of how grant funds can be used include, but are not limited to:

  • Events – special topic events or social gatherings to provide locally suitable support initiatives.
  • Consultants – outside subject-matter experts or contractors to deliver specific services including operational support eg. communications contractor or guest speakers for events eg. mental health advisor, financial advisor etc
  • Wages – funds to cover extra staff resourcing to deliver dry season response activities outside the scope of their normal work
  • Other – GGA will consider any activities deemed by a local organisation an appropriate response to their local needs

***Note – these grants are not for an individual farmer initiative, they are open to grower groups [or similar] acting for the benefit of multiple stakeholders

Administration

  • Notification – grants will be assessed every Friday morning and applicants will be notified by 5pm the following Tuesday.
  • Administration – Grants above $20,000 will enter into a formal service agreement with 70% paid upfront and 30% balance on completion. Grants under $20,000 will be released funds in full upfront in good faith with subsequent proof of activity delivery required.
  • Grants will close once all available funds have been allocated.
  • Grant recipients will be required to provide simple proof of activity delivery with event photos, links or attendee lists. These will be outlined with successful recipients.
